Christ Our Advocate

1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, ^ywe have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 ^zHe is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but ^aalso for the sins of the whole world.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

1 What shall we say then? ^mAre we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can ⁿwe who died to sin still live in it?

11 For ^hthe grace of God ⁱhas appeared, bringing salvation ^jfor all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and ^kworldly passions, and ^lto live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in ^mthe present age,

14 ^rwho gave himself for us to ^sredeem us from all lawlessness and ^tto purify for himself ^ta people for his own possession who are ^uzealous for good works.

1 Since we have these promises, beloved, ^jlet us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body¹ and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

Life in the Spirit

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.¹

Heirs with Christ

12 So then, brothers,¹ we are debtors, ^cnot to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

2 Beloved, we are ^zGod’s children ^cnow, and what we will be ^dhas not yet appeared; but we know that ^ewhen he appears^{1 f}we shall be like him, because ^gwe shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who ^hthus hopes in him ⁱpurifies himself as he is pure.

6 ⁿIf we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and ^odo not practice the truth. 7 But ^pif we walk in the light, ^qas he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and ^rthe blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
