1 Peter 2:18–20

18 wServants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, xmindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But yif when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.

Hebrews 12:10

10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, mthat we may share his holiness.

Deuteronomy 25:3

cForty stripes may be given him, but not more, lest, if one should go on to beat him with more stripes than these, your brother be degraded in your sight.
