19 You have profaned me among my people ^ufor handfuls of barley ^vand for pieces of bread, putting to death souls who should not die and keeping alive souls who should not live, by your lying to my people, who listen to lies.

False Prophets Condemned

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

12 Thus, sinning against your brothers¹ and ^gwounding their conscience when it is weak, ^hyou sin against Christ.

12 cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13 cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.¹

15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single ^qproselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a ^rchild of ^shell¹ as yourselves.
